In the movie "Shutter Island," lobotomy is portrayed as a controversial and extreme psychiatric procedure used on patients who are deemed to be mentally unstable or dangerous. The role of lobotomy in the film is to highlight the unethical and inhumane treatment of patients at the mental institution. It serves as a symbol of the abuse of power and the lengths to which the institution is willing to go to maintain control over its patients. The use of lobotomy also adds to the overall atmosphere of fear and suspense in the story. **

Performing a lobotomy against someone's will is illegal in most countries. Informed consent is a fundamental principle in medical ethics, and any surgical procedure, including a lobotomy, requires the patient's consent. Performing a lobotomy without consent would be considered a violation of the individual's rights and autonomy, and could result in legal consequences for the healthcare provider. **

Performing a lobotomy against one's own will is not legal in most countries. Informed consent is a fundamental principle in medical ethics, and performing a lobotomy without the patient's consent would violate this principle. Additionally, the practice of lobotomies has largely been abandoned due to ethical concerns and the availability of alternative treatments for mental health conditions. Therefore, it is unlikely that a medical professional would perform a lobotomy against a person's will. **

A lobotomy is considered bad because it involves the surgical removal or destruction of parts of the brain, leading to irreversible damage and significant changes in a person's personality, behavior, and cognitive abilities. In the movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," the character Randle McMurphy undergoes a lobotomy as a form of punishment and control by the oppressive Nurse Ratched. The procedure is portrayed as a cruel and inhumane way to silence and subdue individuals who challenge authority, highlighting the unethical and damaging nature of lobotomies. **
